Tuesday was a big day for the Washington Capitals when they were going against the San Jose Sharks and as it turned out, the Capitals were just no match and lost the game two goals to none.
However, the San Jose Sharks did have a difficult time on Tuesday. It was not difficult to win but to decide if Antti Niemi had made a greater contribution to the winning cause or Logan Couture.
The Sharks have only got themselves to blame though for starting a tradition that requires the determination of one player whose contribution mattered most in any given win; after all, they have got a certain baseball bat that they have got to pass around to that person.
The contribution from Antti Niemi was really undeniable by all means. The goalie made as many as twenty five saves over the course of the game which meant that the puck from the Washington Capitals remained safe from the goal of the San Jose Sharks.
This performance marked the second game on the trot that the Sharks’ goalie managed to earn himself a shutout in the NHL this season.
However, there was a certain rookie who goes by the name of Logan Couture whose goal was the one that broke a deadlock that stood for fifty two long minutes during which neither team had scored a single goal.
Couture set a little NHL record for his own cherishing as well by scoring that goal; it marked the eighth time that he scored a game winner this season which is more than anyone else from the National Hockey League.
However, when the turn came for that baseball bat to be handed the locker room made a unanimous decision and it went in favor of goalie Antti Niemi who took his season tally of shutouts to four with this game.
