On September 1 Apple organized its media event in San Francisco where Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled a number of new products and innovations, such as the new iPod Touch 4G, Apple TV and a new operating system iOS 4.1, with 4.2 coming in November. Jobs also unveiled new developments for iTunes, with an iTunes 10 download, which will now have new music social networking feature called Ping.

However it seems as Ping is facing some major issues as reports started pouring in that the new feature is vulnerable to security and privacy issues. An article by Jamie Pert over on Product- Reviews, sourced from Net-Security, says that Ping has already started facing attacks from scammers and spammers. Although, the scams are not too dangerous at this point of time and Ping has also not encountered any no cases of clickjacking worms or malware so far.

According to security firm Sophos the spam messages that try to fool people into completing an online survey have already started attacking Ping. Sophos added that sometimes these online surveys are used by hackers to infect computers with viruses and malware. Remember the recent Security Suite Virus. Ping lacks filtering feature and Sophos has slammed Apple for not taking care of it before releasing Ping. Apple is yet to respond to Ping’s comment.

The researchers have asked the users to stay away from tricky surveys which promise free iPhones, iPads, and many other iDevices on Ping’s network. Security firm Sophos has asked the iTunes lovers to upgrade the iTunes 10 regardless of the scams associated with it as it is safe.
