HOUSTON: The Astros have put right-hander Chris Sampson on the disabled list due to biceps tendinitis.
The team has purchased the contract of right-hander Casey Daigle from Triple-A Round Rock . Diagle made it to the 40-men squad, surpassing Minor League pitcher Evan Englebrook.
Sampson is 0-0 with a 6.30 ERA in his 22 outings this year. He was one of the most reliable relievers for the Astros. He had scored 1.50 ERA in his initial 19 games. Later he increased his ERA to 6.30, allowing 12 hit and 11 earned runs in his last two innings.
On other hand, Daigle is 1-1 with an ERA of 2.96. He has seven saves from the last 20 games he played for the Express. During the course of his 24 1/3 innings, he allowed eight earned runs on 23 hits and struck ouy 23 batters so far.
The 30-year-old player has never pitched in the Majors since making debut as a rookie in 2004.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Englebrook, has featured 16 games at Triple-A Round Rock and is 0-1 with a 6.46 ERA. He has given away 27 hits and 17 earned runs from his 23 2/3 innings.
