New York, Sept 6 : Three Brooklyn brothers have made a hit record on YouTube based on an Alabama man’s interview about an assault on his younger sister.

The Gregory Brothers, Evan, Andrew and Michael, released ‘Bed Intruder’ based on Antoine Dodson’s TV news interview, in which he had spoken out with a warning after his sister was assaulted. The song has racked up 1 million views in less than a day, and has become a popular iTunes download.

“We thought, ‘If we’re lucky, we’ll sell a few thousand’,” the New York Daily News quoted Andrew, 28, as saying.
The inspiration for the song was Dodson’s raw interview about thwarting the rape of his sister in Huntsville, Ala., and vowing to find the predator.
“Overall, I would add that our primary motivation for working on this piece was that we were compelled by Antoine’s personality, We heard within the interview the melody,” he stated.
The Brooklyn siblings also said some listeners are getting the wrong message.
“I think people who think it’s exploitative are filtering it through their own perceptions,” Michael, 25, said.

“What Antoine did was send a message of strength and anger, and we translated it into a song,” he added.
