Henin slammed Sharapova in the third-round encounter 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The match’s crucial moment was when Henin made a superb comeback, overcoming four break points.

Earlier, she trailed by 0-2 and love-40. She soon gained a lead of 4-2. Later she extended it to 5-3 and finally hit the winning serve.

With this victory, Henin has maintained her winning streak at the Roland Garros, clinching 24 matches in a row. Henin clashed with her arch rival after a gap of 20 months following the announcement of retirement from the game.

Earlier, both players came up with magnificent performance, defying the windy, chilly, and damp conditions. Sharapova seemed desperate to clinch the victory in the much-hyped showdown.

On the other hand, Henin started the game on a defensive note. But Henin soon started to clinch corners, forcing Sharapova to make more errors.

Henin is slated to take on seventh seeded Samantha Stosur.
