It has been four long weeks that have been full of testimonials that came rushing in one after the other over this period and then came the period when the case was in the stage of deliberation, which too continued for four long and tiring days. After these four weeks and four days got over we have assurance that a verdict has indeed been come to and the trial for the murder of Chandra Levy is all but over.
The time is expected to be sometime around ten past twelve in the afternoon when the jury will announce the verdict. The Chandra Levy incident happened almost ten years ago when the intern from Washington has found in a state of remnants in 2001.
The key suspect for the incident was a certain Ingmar Guandique who, after nearly ten years of committing the hideous crime, has been charged with murder as well as the kidnapping of the intern.
The case of Ingmar Guandique is being deliberated by a panel of a total of twelve judges of whom as many as nine happen to be women and a mere three remaining are men which can only mean that the well wishers Chandra Levy can be assured of the justice that is due for her.
Ingmar Guandique is not even an American citizen; he has emigrated from El Salvador. That being so, the criminal is likely to be deported following his term in prison, given that he does not get a life sentence. The condition on which he can avoid the life sentence is if the jury finds him guilty of a second degree murder as opposed to the first degree murder that he has been charged with. in that case his sentence may amount to a maximum of forty years.
He is already serving a ten year term in prison owing to assaults other assaults by him which bear a kind of resemblance with the Chandra Levy murder.
