The L.A. County District Attorney is convinced that troubled Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan is a seasoned fashion thief, and that's why the attorney has decided to prosecute the Mean Girls star for felony grand theft. Celebrity website TMZ reported that the D.A.'s Office took into consideration 3 incidents where Lindsay allegedly pilfered expensive items and then decided to prosecute the actress.
Lohan was suspected of taking a $400,000 necklace from an Elle Magazine photo shoot in 2009. In another incident, Lohan was accused of stealing a $12,000 mink coat from a NYC nightclub in 2008, while in the third case Lohan was accused of taking a $35,000 Rolex in 2010 from a "friend."
Though Lindsay was not prosecuted or convicted in the above mentioned cases, the attorney heavily considered these cases before making the decision. It is expected that the prosecutors will ask the judge to admit the 3 incidents into evidence to show "prior bad acts" of Lohan.
TMZ report added that there are two other factors that weighed heavily in the decision to prosecute: The most important case is related to Lindsay’s repeated run-ins with the law, including 2 DUIs. Lohan also made a mockery of the judicial system by failing to perform her probation requirements. She also failed to appear in court and went to attend film festival in Cannes. TMZ reported that the D.A. is in possession of a surveillance video, showing Lohan walking out of a Venice, CA jewelry store with the necklace, which is partially hidden by other trinkets which Lindsay is wearing around her neck.
