The Seattle Seahawks have released running back LenDale White, just a month after they exchanged fourth- and sixth-round draft picks with the Tennessee Titans for the USC alumnus.
The Seahawks had included White on their roster for two reasons — White had groomed himself under the watchful eyes of new head coach Pete Carroll during his USC days, and the team needed a goal-line back.
Although White lost weight and slimmed down to 220 pounds, speculations were rife that White, who ran for 2,349 yards and 24 touchdowns in four seasons with the Titans, was not performing as expected by Carroll and general manager John Schneider.
Explaining the reason for White’s release, Schneider said, "It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seahawks. It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future."
White is also facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy. According to La Canfora, the Seahawks knew that White was facing suspension when they hired him and he was not removed because of the suspension.
The Seahawks management had expected that White would become a part of the team but White let them down due to his work ethic.
